Preventative Maintenance Programs

●  Battery Research & Testing offers a full range of preventative maintenance programs to suit any needs; from yearly general checkups to rigorous monthly examinations. Our preventative maintenance programs are designed to provide the best assessment based on the systems reliability requirements - offering the most efficient cost to benefit ratio. All preventative maintenance programs are performed on-line, transparently to the system - and, by utilizing our mobile battery backup, any necessary system maintenance including load testing can be performed without interruption to the system.

●  Customers can choose the level of reliability they require based on our various preventative maintenance packages, which include; Annual, Bi-Annual, Quarterly, Monthly, Emergency, Pre-load test and Certification. We will also design a program tailored to the specific needs of each system. For more detailed information see; Preventative Maintenance Inspection Descriptions, Preventative Maintenance Inspection Procedures, and Preventative Maintenance Inspection Parameters described below.

●  When problems are found, Battery Research & Testing can make repairs, supply replacement parts, and even provide temporary battery systems to keep your system reliability at it's highest potential. We work with your battery manufacturer or supplier to solve technical, logistical, and scheduling problems; including warranty claims.

●  Our inspection protocols are based on the IEEE 450, IEEE 1188 and the most conservative inspection practices recommended by the major battery manufacturers.

Initial, Annual, Bi-Annual, Emergency, Pre - Load Test, and Certification Inspections:
1. Perform complete visual inspection.
2. Measure and record all string parameters for each battery string.
3. Measure and record cell parameters as follows;

a. 100% of the cell voltages.
b. 100% of the cell gravities. (vented)
c. 100% of the internal cell resistances. (valve-regulated)
d. 100% of the cell temperatures.
e. 100% of the inter-cell connection and lug resistances.

●  What the IEEE says about battery maintenance

"Proper maintenance will prolong the life of a battery and will aid in ensuring that it is capable of satisfying its design requirements. A good battery maintenance program will serve as a valuable aid in maximizing battery life, preventing avoidable failures, and reducing premature replacement. Battery maintenance should be performed by personnel knowledgeable of batteries and the safety precautions involved." - IEEE Std 450
